Upshall is not doing much for me to start the year. I'd rather see some kids get some NHL minutes, than sit in the press box.

His slashing penalty was really bad. I wasn't thirlled with the late signing in the first place and nothing has really changed my mind on it so far.

xGF, is this stat usually on the winner's side in the NHL?

I don't pay a lot of attention to most of the non-traditional stats, so I have no idea what this really is looking at.

I am assuming that goalies play a lot into this for the Blues games. Allen & Hutton started off with some great games where they stole some points for the Blues. Luongo & Vasy played great against the Blues.

I really like this team. That is no Steen, JayBo, Berglundretty good start with Thorburn seeing Ice.

I agree but first no more Thorburn. He is so terrible I feel bad for the guy.

At least he's been getting scratched recently. There are a few guys getting more ice than their play warrants but that's what happens when you are missing Fabbri, Steen, Sanford, and Berglund.

Steen should be playing tomorrow night on the top line though, that helps.

I'm not sure which is why I started to track it.

There are advanced baseball stats trying to be translated to hockey. Only baseball being more static and individualized is easier to track. So you figure how many runs should be scored and figure how many games a team SHOULD win. It's not a great stat even in baseball.

Hockey, despite some former coaches' thoughts, is a game of momentum and transition. It's hard to relate that aspect statistically, but if you could you would be making bank. If you tracked momentum shifts and were able to quantify who took advantage, who is good at stopping them, creating them and at what points of the game you could have some numbers that will be highly predictive of team success, especially in the play offs.

Thorbunr should have never been signed

Upshall never should have been signed

Two guys that shouldn't be in the NHL anymore

a fourth Line of MPS Brodziak Sundqvist would be just fine with me

I agree with this.

There are so many stats now in hockey that I don't think mean much overall, and are being pushed more and more. I get why they are doing it, but too many IMO don't translate into quality info for hockey.
